Mrs. Norma Lee Waller Ashby passed away at her home on September 16th, 2025. She received her eternal reward of paradise after being a lifelong faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Norma was born on November 20th, 1935 to the late Ralph and Maeola (Eaton) Waller in Stokes County. Norma graduated from Pinnacle Highschool and briefly worked as a telephone switchboard operator in Winston-Salem before marrying the late Donald Ashby. Don, as a career Air Force veteran had many assignments that took Norma and the family to the corners of the country and many places in between. Wherever they went, Norma made each new place home. When Don retired from the Air Force they moved from Utah back to Stokes County for a long and well-deserved time with family and friends. She spent many hours watching after grand kids and traveling to go spend time with them. In 2009 she traveled to France with Don and son Joe and his wife Amy as part of a short-term Missionary trip. Unsurprisingly, her job was caring for the missionaries’ small children to allow them time to meet.
Along with her parents Norma is also preceded in death by her husband Don, son Jeff, and siblings Nancy, Johnny, and Larry. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Joe (Amy), and Kevin (Joye); her grandchildren Dany, Rachel, Amber (Chris), Jacob, Kyle, Joshua, and Joseph (Ashton); a great grandchild Audrey; along with many dear family members and friends. Services to be held at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville on Friday September 26th at 11 am. Visitation an hour before service and graveside service following.
