Winston-Salem Mrs. Norma Settle Kennedy passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at KB Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 30, 1925, in Forsyth County to Barney Clarence Settle and Geneva Crotts Settle. Norma was a member of Century Park Baptist Church, where she was on the Fellowship Committee for thirty-five years and served at other functions as well. She and her husband owned and operated Kennedy's Grocery and Meat Market for several years. She loved crafts, antiques, and enjoyed her flowers. She loved cooking and taking care of her family as long as she was able. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and grandson; Ryan Colby Kennedy who passed away in 2009. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Samuel ""Loke"" Kennedy; a daughter, Linda K. Johnson and husband Steve of East Bend; a son, Ricky C. Kennedy and wife Tina of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Zach, Josh, Natalie, Renee; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Macy, Tiffany, Lucas, Lance; a sister, Dot Speaks and husband Jack of Clemmons; two brothers, Harold Settle and wife Joann of Kernersville, Richard Settle and wife Linda of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Glenn O. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 prior to the service. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center and the staff at KB Reynolds.
