Norma “Carol” Freeman Reid, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Reid was born September 8, 1933, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Samuel Freeman and Ethel Brinkley Freeman.
Carol worked at B&G Pie Company for many years making pies. She enjoyed her day trips with the ladies from the church, and working in the yard up until her health no longer permitted. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church for many years, and once her health started failing, she enjoyed watching Charles Stanley and Donnie Swaggart on TV, which she cherished.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reid, a retired police officer of the Winston-Salem Police Department; and her grandson, John Lee Mathis, who was waiting in heaven for his "Maw."
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles “Kenny” Reid Jr.; two daughters, Patricia Burnett (Mitchael) and Debbie Mathis (Roy Lee); two grandchildren, Daniel Burnett (Lori), and Christina “Toot-Toot” Burnett; one great-grandson, Lathan Burnett; and her beloved dog, Piper.
We know she is in Heaven celebrating, and we will miss you Mom/Maw.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
