Norman William Akervik, 91, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on August 8, 1922 to John and Hildur Broman Akervik in Duluth, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and Duluth Business University. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the 452nd AAA AW Battalion and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha; sons, Gregory of Fridley, MN, and Mark (Barbara) of Duluth, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Kris, Lee Ann, and Erin; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Harold, Jack, Myron, and Wallace; 2 sisters, Ollie and Elaine. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds. After retiring he enjoyed many years playing golf with his golfing buddies and also working with stained glass. A memorial service will be held in Duluth, MN at a later date.
