Norman Iman

Kernersville - Mr. Norman Dee Iman, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Glade, Kansas on September 12, 1935 to Ina and Lucille Iman. Norman retired from Alcatel-Lucent in Guilford County where he worked for the Sonar Under Water Division for 40 years and traveled extensively. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf with his best friends, Richard Childress and Bill Nagel for 45 years. Norman proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville for 35 years where he was a Deacon and served on the Transportation committee. He gratefully admired Dr. Steve Martin.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Janet H. Iman, who was the mother of three children of his five children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Wheeling Iman; four sons, Jake Iman and fiancé, Crystal Byrd, Todd Iman and wife, Becky, all of Kernersville, Rod Iman and wife, Mary, and Jerry Iman and friend, Debbie, all of Greensboro; one daughter, Denise Sprinkle and husband, Tim, of Midway; six grandchildren, Emma Iman, Taylor, Morgan, and Matthew Sprinkle, Nicole and Ryan Iman; three brothers, Dr. Ron Iman and wife, Rae, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Doug Iman and wife, Barbara, of Elkhart, Kansas, and Jeff Iman, also of Kansas; one sister, Diane Keirns and husband, Ron, of Stockton, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Norman will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. A private family inurnment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church at 401 Oakhurst St, Kernersville, NC 27284 or a charity of your choosing.
