Norville Hinson 'Toot' Hailey Jr.

Mr. Norville Hinson ""Toot"" Hailey Jr., 84, passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 22, 1928 in Forsyth Co. the son of the late Norville Hinson Hailey Sr. and Effie Mae Smith Hailey. Mr. Hailey served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 76th Tank Battalion. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co./Archer Plant with 30 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Williams. Mr. Hailey is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eunice ""Tot"" Hailey, two daughters, Tanya Hailey of Winston-Salem and Kim Meacham and husband Randy of Tobaccoville, three grandchildren, Lindsey, Jon and Hailey, a sister, Margaret Kerns, a special sister-in-law, Brenda Walker and husband James of Salisbury and a special nephew, Darren Young. Mr. Hailey is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family that were all dear to his heart. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and Dr. James Thomas officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 this evening Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank his special caregiver, Robin Holder, Hospice and the care team from First Baptist Church of Stanleyville for all the love and care shown during Mr. Hailey's time of need. They would also like to thank Dr. Gus Thomas for his compassion and loving guidance during this time as well.
