Oliver Dennis Mayes

Mr. Oliver ""Dennis"" Mayes, age 80 of Pinnacle passed away October 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mayes was born in Surry County, May 17, 1936 to Lawrence Hobert Mayes and Lillian Alice Bullington Mayes. He was a member of Pinnacle View Baptist Church. Dennis was a former Deacon and Choir Director. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was a lifelong Beekeeper. Dennis worked as a farmer and at Hasting and Perry Manufacturing and sang with the Calvary Quartet. In addition to his parents Mr. Mayes was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Mayes Smith. Mr. Mayes is survived by his wife of 44 years of marriage, Judy Lynn Brim Mayes. One son, Brent (Malissa) Mayes. Three grandchildren; Parker, Chloe, and Micah Mayes. One sister, Virginia Mayes Key. Four nephews, mother-in-law, Annie Ruth Brim and his special furry friend, Gabe. Funeral services for Mr. Mayes will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at Pinnacle View Baptist Church in Pinnacle by Rev. Ron Chamblin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening October 25th from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to Pinnacle View Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Glenda Woods, 692 Mt.
