Olivia "Jean" Hartman Brewer

Mrs. Olivia “Jean” Hartman Brewer, 76, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at her home.

She was born in Davidson County, NC, to the late Frederick “Fred” Eugene Hartman and Margaret Louise Mendenhall Hartman on January 18, 1948.

Olivia graduated from North Davidson High School before going on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She worked as a bookkeeper for Wachovia Bank for over 20 years. Olivia enjoyed being a Master Gardener; planting, raising, and showcasing her flowers throughout her yard. She was prolific as a Triad Artist who painted in all media. Olivia also had a flare for decorating her home with her flower arrangements, crafts, embroidery, and other varieties of needlework. She was an avid listener, non-judgmental, conscientious, and would help anyone. Above all, she was especially kind. Olivia’s greatest joy was the birth of her daughter, Kathleen.  

In addition to her parents, Olivia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30+ years, James Brewer, who passed away in 2002.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathleen (Huzur) Aydogdu; first cousins, Susan Mendenhall Smith and Marsha (Bob) Duke; her beloved cat, Clover; and many other special cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1PM at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Ginny Tobiassen officiating. The family will receive friends the night prior, Monday, May 20, 2024, from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
