Mrs. Oma Lou Pruitt Pitts, 86, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by family at Hospice of the Triad in High Point, NC. She was the daughter of Nathaniel and Minnie Bullins Pruitt and the wife of Gene B. Pitts for 59 years.
She was a proud member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Colfax, NC. She worked at and retired from Sears & Roebuck Co. in Greensboro, NC.
She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes. She loved to cook large meals for family and took great pleasure in seeing them happily fill up! She was proud of her family and loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene B. Pitts, along with her parents, her brother Jack Pruitt and her sisters – Irene Shields, Mazie Matthews and Leona Cox. Surviving are her sons Tim (Lisa) of Summerfield, Gerald (Robin) of Colfax, grandchildren – Myles Pitts, Joshua Pegram (Katie Smith) and Jennifer Pegram Placke (Samuel) and sister Lula Mae Bullins of Stoneville and brother Terry Pruitt of Walkertown along with many nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Smith Grove Baptist Church cemetery, 2707 Sandy Ridge Road, Colfax, NC 27235 with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Triad, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or a charity of your choice.
