Opal Kates Briggs

Mrs. Opal Kates Briggs, 94, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013. She was born April 9, 1919 in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Briggs was a member of Sprague St. Baptist Church and the Ladies Bible Class #2. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 31 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carson Briggs; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Kelly; a granddaughter, Anita Kelly both of Norfolk, VA and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Bush officiating. There is no stated visitation.
