Opal Hill

Opal Bryant Hill, 83, of Pilot Mountain, NC passed away at her home in Westview Manor in McGregor, TX on August 22, 2017. Opal was the daughter of Loman and Ruby Bryant; loving wife to Ted Hill, her husband of 60 years; sister to Harry Bryant, Betty Culler, Perry Bryant, and Zelphia Wright; incredible mother to her son Bryan Hill and his wife Brenda; and doting Grandmother to Dylan Hawley, Bryant Hudgins, and Harrison Hudgins. Opal worked at Hanes Hosiery in Winston-Salem before Bryan came along. Once Bryan was in the house she spent the next several years raising and often entertaining him. In the 80's she opened a crafts store in Pilot Mountain with a friend, and later began working at Family Dollar in Pilot Mountain and made many friends at both places. She was a member of Pine Ridge Presbyterian church since the early 1970s. Opal loved crafts, games, music, children and above all fun. As her name implies, Opal was a precious jewel. Opal maintained her vibrant sense of fun and mischief until the very end. In the months preceding her death she was playing bingo, dominos, Skip Bo and heckling singers and Elvis impersonators at Westview Manor. Opal will be remembered fondly by her many friends and relatives. Her service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church in Pilot Mountain with Pastor Doug Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
