Orville Robert Holder

WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. Orville Robert ""Bob"" Holder ""Papa"", 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at his home. Bob was born on June 24, 1925 to the late Orval Rice and Alma Ledford Holder. He was a mechanic for the U.S. Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific during WWII. He retired from Western Electric in 1986 with 35 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Grant Holder; a sister, Doris Holder Reardon and a son-in-law, Allen Wayne Gortman. He is survived by two daughters, Janice Thompson (Tom), Wanda Reeves (Ron); two granddaughters, Traci Pendleton (Young Jester) and Lori Gortman; a step-grandson, T.J. Thompson (Melanie); three great-granddaughters, Shelby and April Pendleton and Faith Irene Tian Xiang Gortman; a step-great-grandson, Trey Thompson; and two very special cousins, Joe Long and Grace Holder. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Rev. Darren Alexander officiating.
