Patricia Hughes Evans

Mrs. Patricia Hughes Evans, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born July 7, 1938 in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Jonathon and May Bell Hughes. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Evans had a special love for children and taught Sunday School and Kindergarten. She enjoyed painting, had a passion for antiquing and was a talented seamstress. She also worked for Hunter Publishing (Josten's) and enjoying typing and editing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Temple Hughes and her sister, Kay Hughes. Surviving are her husband, Robert (Bob) Evans of the home; a daughter, Lynn Evans-Reister and husband Matt of Dunkirk, MD; a son, Bradley (Brad) Evans and wife Melinda of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Ashley Evans Lee and husband Robbie and Isabella Evans-Reister and her sister, Gloria Hughes Whitley. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Rd. with Rev. Truett Williams and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Patricia Hughes Evans. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com.
