Patricia D. Manuel, 93, of Winston-Salem, stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law John and Cheryl Manuel. The last two weeks of her life, she was constantly surrounded and loved on by her family. She was preceded in death by her dad and mom Luther Sam and Tommie C. Dockery; and her sister, brothers, and their spouses: Lillian Dockery Kimel (Francis), Martin Dockery (Mildred), James Dockery (Ann), Sam Dockery (Carylon), Kenny Dockery (Becky), and two infant sisters: Ruth and Victoria.
She is survived by those whom she loved: her three children Ron Manuel (Shelby), John Manuel (Cheryl), and Jamie Hicks (Tim); twelve grandchildren: Heather M. Still (Scott), Ben Manuel (Jessica), Jonathan Manuel (Chasity), Parker Manuel (Jessica), Joy M. DaCunha (Andrew), Alyece H. Averbeck (David), Joanna M. Gray (Ryan), Kathryn H. Robertson (Tyler), Zach Manuel (Paige), Julia Manuel, Josh Manuel, and Robert Hittell (Kim); and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
“Pat” was a talented woman. From the time she was a little girl, she entertained listeners with her soothing alto voice. After her salvation in June 1960, she loved singing in church the songs that honored her Lord. She was also a highly intelligent woman. There wasn’t much she didn’t know; but what she had not learned, she pursued to understand—and that without AI. Her favorite daily pastime was the crossword puzzle, wearing out at least two unabridged dictionaries. She was the family “doctor” and the one “on call” when any of her grandchildren were sick.
The thing most remembered about Pat is her love and dedication to her family and to Jesus. She reared her children in church and taught them life’s principles by the Bible. Because of this, her family has such a Godly heritage and strive to serve Him.
And on this celebration of Pat’s homegoing, we are privileged to praise her; for she has fought a good fight; she has finished her course; she has kept the faith; and someday she will receive the crown of righteousness.
Patricia Dockery Manuel will be honored on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00am at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Kernersville, NC. Her son Pastor Ron Manuel will be officiating. Family will receive friends at 10:00am, prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at 2:00pm at the Dockery Cemetery, 100 Freeman Lane, Elkin, NC 28621
