Patrick Kurowski Poehling, 79, formerly of La Crosse, WI died in Winston Salem, NC on June 28, 2025. He will be especially remembered for his dry wit, his keen mind, and his compassion for all people.
Patrick was born in Madison WI and graduated from UW Madison. He received a Masters Degree from UW La Crosse. Pat taught middle school students for 8 years at Cathedral School in La Crosse, conveying his passion for appropriate adverb use to all in his care. Pat was employed for many years by First Supply as the manager of the showroom. He had a passion for architecture and design, and along with Mick Block and Bob Poehling restored the Mons Anderson House (now home of Le Chateau restaurant in LaCrosse, WI) in the 1980’s. Then in the 1990’s they together restored the VanDusen Mansion in Minneapolis. Retirement took him to Palm Springs, CA for 21 years. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Curt and Patricia Drogsvold of Madison, WI and his brother Michael Kurowski of Gulf Port, MS and Michael Block of Winston Salem. He is survived by his husband of 56 years, Robert E Poehling of Winston Salem, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Anne’s Episcopal Church, 2690 Fairlawn Dr, Winston Salem, NC 27106 on July 26, 2025 at 10 AM
In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be given to St Anne’s Episcopal Church, Music fund, 2690 Fairlawn Dr, Winston Salem, NC 27106 or the charity of your choice.
