Patsy Rice

Mrs. Patsy Jane Widener Rice, 78, of Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1939 in Damascus, VA to the late Mr. Clarence Bishop Widener and Mrs. Mary Ellen Eggers Widener. Mrs. Rice was a member of Christ Wesleyan Church where she was a member of the Searchers Sunday School Class. She worked for over twenty-five years at Reynolda Preschool. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. David Rice, and a daughter, Amy Rice. Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Cardwell and husband Kent of Pfafftown, and Heather McCarthy and husband Michael; six grandchildren, Brandy, Tabitha, Lydia, Amy Faith, Abigail, and Aubrey; two brothers, Joe Widener and wife Mary of Damascus, VA, and Eddie Widener of Damascus, VA; one niece, Valorie Widener of Damascus, VA; and one nephew, Maurice Widener and wife Pat of Laurel Bloomery, TN. A funeral service will be conducted in her honor 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Christ Wesleyan Church, officiated by Pastor Mark Norris and Maurice Widener. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
