Patty Sue Billings Enscore

It's with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Mama/Nannie Patty Sue Billings Enscore, who left this world on Sunday, June 7, 2026 surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others and is now in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior

Patty was born in Hammonton, New Jersey, on April 27, 1947, to Luther and Della Billings.

To know her was to love her. She was the absolute best Nannie, a title she wore with immense pride and joy. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent making memories with them. Whether she was cheering from the stands for them, spending time with family at hockey games and the races at Bowman Gray Stadium, casting a fishing line on a peaceful afternoon, or simply sharing stories and laughter, she made everyone around her feel special and loved.

Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She began her working years as a waitress, serving others with the kindness and warmth that became her trademark. She later worked in a school cafeteria while her children were younger, and then at Forsyth Hospital, Tyco Electronics, and Sara Lee Underwear, where she proudly worked as a “panty picker” before having to retire early due to her health. No matter where she worked, she earned the respect and friendship of those around her through her determination, humor, and caring spirit.

She shared a beautiful love story with the love of her life, her husband, Carl (C.E.) Enscore Jr. Their marriage was built on devotion, partnership, and unwavering love for 46 years until his passing in 2008. Though she missed him dearly, she carried his memory in her heart every day.

One of her greatest joys was living in the tiny home lovingly built for her by Scott her “golden child.” It was a place where she felt comfortable, independent, and surrounded by the things and people she loved most.

Her legacy is one of unconditional love, hard work, laughter, and family. She taught us the importance of showing up for one another, cherishing simple moments, and loving with our whole hearts.

While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her love lives on through the family she adored and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth, Ruby, Linda, Mae, Pearl and Cora. Her brothers, Ira “Buddy,” Homer, Bobby and Junior who died at birth.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Wietbrock (Scott) of Salisbury, NC; her son, Richard Enscore (Penny) of Rural Hall, NC; her granddaughters, Trish Frisby (Jobie) of Kernersville, NC, and Cassie Moretz (Jeremy) of Walkertown, NC; and her grandsons, Daniel Enscore of Rural Hall, NC, and Devan Ligon (Amanda) of Denton, NC.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Forrest Ligon, Eldridge Ligon, Millie Frisby, Hallie Moretz, Kaiden Enscore, Nate Moretz, Walker Ligon, Barrett Frisby, Denver Moretz, Berklie Moretz and Lainey Moretz. Her great-godson, Braden Miller; and her beloved granddog, Whiskey.

She is further survived by her sisters, Judy Smith of East Bend and Mary Lou Durant of Florida; two special nieces Beverly and Robin where she loved to travel to their mountain homes and a number more of nieces and nephews; her best friend, Karen Sue Bostic.

A Gathering of Friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Graveside service will held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Officiating the service is Pastor Jimmy Money.
