Paul Evan Hauser, 60, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 31, 1965, Paul was a devoted son, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, strength, and faith left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Paul was born and raised in Winston-Salem and spent his life building deep roots in the community that raised him. He was a lifelong member of Becks Baptist Church, where his faith in God guided every part of his life. He served faithfully for many years, teaching Sunday school and mentoring young boys through the Royal Ambassadors program. His quiet leadership and steady devotion left a lasting impact on generations of families in the church.
For 34 years, Paul worked as a respected sales representative for Sherwin-Williams. He was not only an expert in his field—he was the kind of colleague and professional people genuinely enjoyed working with. His coworkers and customers alike appreciated his knowledge, dedication, and unwavering kindness.
Outside of work, Paul was all heart. He lived for time spent with his family—coaching his sons’ youth football teams with the Lewisville Titans back in the day, hauling all four kids to baseball and softball games at Northwest Little League, and firing up the grill for family cookouts that became the stuff of legend. His BBQ was unmatched. Whether it was a birthday or just a weekend together, Paul made every gathering feel like something worth celebrating.
He was also a die-hard Clemson Tigers fan, always cheering loudest during football and baseball season. But above all else, Paul was devoted to his children and grandchildren. They were his greatest pride and motivation during his fight with cancer. Diagnosed in late February 2024 with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma, Paul faced every day with courage, determination, and deep faith. His strength never wavered—not because it wasn’t hard, but because he refused to give anything less for the people he loved.
Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He was the proud father of Brett Hauser, Nick Hauser (and his wife, Paige Hauser), Kaleigh Sands (and her husband, Holden Sands), and Sierra Wilson (and her husband, Devon Wilson), and the beloved grandfather of Colt Sands, Hadley Hauser, Farren Sands, Bodie Sands, and Callie Hauser. He cherished time with his grandkids, and it was their laughter, their presence, and their love that kept him fighting throughout his battle with cancer.
He is also survived by his parents, Norris and Sandy Hauser; his brother, Terry Hauser, and sister-in-law Angie Hauser; and their children—Paul’s nieces and nephew—whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Evan and Wilma Hauser, and RA and Mary Moody.
Paul will be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous man who never hesitated to lend a hand. He never asked for anything in return, and he never made a show of helping—he simply showed up. He led with quiet strength, big love, and a steadfast belief in God’s plan. He is deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and always with us.
A funeral service will be held at Becks Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. The family will have a private burial at 10:30 followed by a public service at 11am on Saturday, September 20th.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Becks Baptist Church at 5505 Becks Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. These contributions will be used as a legacy fund in Paul’s honor.
