The family is sad to report the passing of Paul Eugene Marshall on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 95. Paul was born in Winston-Salem in 1930 and grew up in the family home known as “the Cabbage Patch” that once stood on the SW corner of Spruce and West 8th streets. In 1945 Paul began attending RJR High school while holding down jobs delivering papers for the Winston-Salem Journal (morning) & Sentinel (afternoon) from 1945-1946 and later as a dry goods delivery assistant for Horne & Co., from 1947-1948. After graduating in 1949, Paul enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill. The brief marriage produced a son, Mark in 1957. In 1963 Paul ventured to Tokyo Japan and took a new position with Lowe Bingham Thompson, a business recently merged with Price Waterhouse & Co. In 1969, Paul returned to Winston-Salem to work for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co and served in upper management for 20 years. It was soon after his return from Japan that he met and married Carolyn Joan Riddle. Paul and Carolyn first attended Calvary Baptist Church, then Parkway United Church of Christ, and lastly, Calvary Moravian Church.
