Paul Francis Riedl Jr.

Paul Francis Riedl Jr. passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the age of 87. A proud graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and a former Industrial Engineer for GE, 

Paul was a man of firm convictions who valued solitude. He was a man who lived life entirely on his own terms—a trait he maintained fiercely and independently until the very end. He possessed a razor-sharp wit and a famously low tolerance for the trivial, often finding a dry amusement in the follies of others. 

While he dedicated time to Meals on Wheels and pursued interests in tennis, painting, and reading, he was happiest when left to his own devices. 

Paul is survived by his three sons, David, John, and Carl Riedl; his sister, Linda; and his nieces and "adopted" nephew. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jeannette and Paul, and his brother, Phil. 

We wish him a peaceful rest, forever a Tar Heel, and finally at ease.
