Pauline Faye Stevens, 71, passed away on May 21, 2025, in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Born on January 8, 1954, in Benton, North Carolina, she lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Throughout her life, Pauline was known for her strong work ethic and determination. She built a career painting residential homes and also served as a tobacco inspector—roles that reflected both her attention to detail and her commitment to doing every job with excellence. Her hands were never idle; whether working professionally or caring for those around her, she gave her all with grace and grit.
Pauline was the proud mother of Amanda Stevens, Denorris Stevens, and Darlene Stevens. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren—Shaquana, Simon, Daylan, and Damien—each of whom brought joy to her vibrant world. She held close the memory of her daughter Amanda Faye Stevens and her oldest grandchild Angela Faye Stevens, whose lives preceded hers in passing. She shared a lifelong bond with her sisters Joyce Stevens-Stanton, Ruth Stevens, and Leila Stevens. Together they formed a foundation of strength and support that carried through generations.
A woman of many passions, Pauline found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved fishing on quiet mornings, cooking hearty meals for loved ones, sewing with care and creativity, and entertaining guests with laughter and warmth. Music filled her home as much as the aroma of good food did—she delighted in dancing freely and watching movies that stirred thought or brought comfort. Her faith was an integral part of who she was. A member of Green Street Methodist Church with roots also in the Baptist tradition, Pauline embodied compassion and kindness in all she did. Her spiritual strength was matched by a practical wisdom that made her both a realist and an anchor for those around her.
Pauline’s legacy is one of generosity and courage. A philanthropist at heart, she gave not only materially but emotionally—offering support when it was needed most. She faced life’s challenges head-on with tenacity and insight. Those who knew her speak of a woman full of life: bold in spirit, bright in presence, loyal in friendship. She observed the world carefully but lived it fully—never shying away from hard truths or hard work. Her home was a haven where love abounded and guests always felt welcome. Pauline Faye Stevens will be remembered as the heart of her family—a loving mother, devoted grandmother, cherished sister, loyal friend—and as someone who lived each day with purpose and passion. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Nettie Stevens, her daughter, Amanda and granddaughter, Angela.
She is survived by her children Darlene Stevens and Denorris Stevens; sister, Joyce Stanton; grandchildren, Daylan, Jasmine, and Simon; extended family; and best friends, Vanessa.
