Kernersville – Pearl Virginia Stone Grimes, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 7, 1936, in Henry County, VA to the late Robert Lee and Blanche Vernon Stone. Virginia was a crafty and talented woman. She loved spending time sewing, painting, crafting floral arrangements, and knitting; often knitting caps for newborns at the hospital. Virginia also enjoyed spending her leisure time watching the birds and squirrels. She loved her family and was an excellent mother. Out of all the loves in Virginia’s life, none could compare to her love for God and her church. She was very dedicated to serving the Lord in whatever capacity she needed. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, David Phillip Grimes; and four sisters, Irene, Lillian, Loraine, and Betty Lou.
Those left to cherish Virginia’s memory are her daughter, Venus Hamilton (Mike); son, Bobby Grimes (Tammy); five grandchildren, Sam Hamilton (Lauree), Rebecca Hauser (Spencer), David Grimes (Bobbie Jo), Robbie Grimes, and Sara Danner (Kevin); three great grandchildren, Connor, Ginny, and Lane; and one brother, David Stone (Frankie).
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Mt. Gur Cemetery with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel one hour prior before going to the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262.
