Mrs. Peggy Marie Callahan Brendle, 75, of Winston-Salem, passed away at her home Saturday, April 6, 2019. She was born November 10, 1943 in Forsyth County, to the late Hoyt David Callahan and Sadie McDaniel Callahan. Mrs. Brendle was a charter member of the Easton Neighborhood Association where she loved taking care of the gardens at the entrance of the neighborhood. She was a lover of animals and flowers, and will be remembered for her legendary biscuits.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother, Grady Callahan, and a sister, Lillian Whisenhunt. Surviving are her husband, Dallas Brendle; four brothers and sisters: Ruth Cockrum, Jack Callahan, Betty Bobbitt (Nelson), and Bill Callahan (Deborah); a brother-in-law, Jerry Brendle; second cousins, Linda and Melissa Waller; many loving nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Daisy Gravley; and her beloved pets, BB and Missy.
A graveside service will be conducted in her honor 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Dr. Robert Long. The family will receive friends 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.Hayworth-Miller.com.
