Peggy Joyce Cody

Mrs. Peggy Ann (née Joyce) Cody, age 87, of Advance, NC, passed away June 25, 2025 at Pettigrew Nursing Home in Durham, NC after a brief illness. She was born January 15, 1938 in Stokes County, NC.

Mrs. Cody was a 1956 graduate of Hanes High School and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Engineering Department. She was an active member of Green Meadows Baptist Church in Davie County prior to moving to memory care at Terra Bella in Durham, NC last year.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life Wayne Gray Cody who died in 2021. They enjoyed 64 years of dedicated marriage and friendship. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Irene Joyce; her sister Louise Thomas, and her brother Odell Joyce. Surviving is her only daughter Debbie and son-in-law Charles Marsh of Durham, NC; her granddaughter Joy and grandson-in-law Michael Moverley of Fairfield, CA; and two great-granddaughters Mary Katherine and Juliana; her niece Beverly Ellison and nephew Dennis Adams. The family would like to thank Judy and Jim Manning and Lori and Gary Engstrom for their care and friendship.

A graveside funeral service will be on July 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Green Meadows Baptist Church by Rev James Buchanan at 1646 Highway 801 North, Mocksville, NC 27008. Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is assisting the family.
