Peggy Phillips Dean, 93, a beloved resident of Clemmons, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Clemmons Village II.
Born in Forsyth County on January 17, 1932, Peggy was the daughter of the late William and Annie Phillips. She worked for many years at Woolworth, where she met the love of her life, her husband, Joe Spencer Dean.
Peggy had a deep love for nature, spending countless hours tending to her yard and flowers. She cherished trips to the beach and found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. Known for her kind spirit and giving heart, Peggy was a dedicated caregiver who never missed a birthday or special occasion—always sending cards to brighten someone's day.
A faithful member of Parkway Chapel, she enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and supporting church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Spencer Dean.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pam Gambill (Arnold) of Pfafftown; her grandchildren, Sydney Olson (Joe), Jared Gambill, and Corey Gambill (Angelica), all of Winston-Salem; and one eagerly awaited great-grandchild, due in November.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Top Youth Camp via their website: https://www.mountaintopyouthcamp.org/donate/
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Clemmons Village II for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Peggy.
Arrangements are under the care of Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
