Peggy Rose Shelton Gangwani

Peggy Shelton Gangwani, 72, passed away November 12, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born to Edward W Shelton and Thelma Rhodes Shelton in Winston-Salem NC.
She graduated from Griffith High School, followed by college in Wilmington NC and then to Anchorage Alaska where her parents had migrated. She was a Pioneer of her day - working as a flight attendant at an early age and meeting the love of her life Victor (from India) and father of her children there. She was blessed to have seen nearly the whole world with Victor and Reshma by the age 21 - soaking up the culture, food, languages and traditions of each country - Gaining endearment from all who met her. She traveled to New York with 8 month old Reshma to visit Victor's family in Australia, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Madrid, and his brother Taro in Winston-Salem. As his partner, she helped Victor open his business as Victor of Hong Kong. When Raj came along she, Dad & Reshma moved back to NC to start their young lives - and created a family and a business with a loving environment despite both of their relatives were 3,000 to 10,000 miles away. Once back in Winston Salem, she created a new family for her children and Victor with the Swain and Stokes Families. Her career has spanned so many things but in general we would call her an entrepreneur with great vision and wisdom. Love and acceptance was all a part of it. Mom Taught Raj and Reshma how to appreciate all aspects of life, religion, color, language, etc. We have been blessed thoroughly from her graciousness and knowledge. She was always inquisitive and anxious to learn any and everything she could, via books, travel or making friends. She loved God, music, traveling, challenging puzzles, golf, playing cards and anything social. AMAZING Woman
Loved by so many it is hard to count or mention. Open to the world of every culture/language and showed Raj and Reshma these things. She has always been spiritual and adaptable - we know that she is in God's hands today and celebrating with Nanny, Pappy, Weezie, Brenda, Katie and many others. People have always said that Mom had the best wit, laughter & smile that would light up a room or a person. Mom has always had two sets of family - Shelton and Gangwani. Both sides have always considered her dear family and vice versa no matter. The Shelton family called her PEG and the Gangwani family called her Vaneeta and still does to this day. ALL of Which adored and appreciated and love her. The last 5 years of failing health has finally taken her to heaven and out of her pains and complicatons. She is survived by her children, Reshma Gangwani and Jon Tyndall and Raj Gangwani and wife, Lisa, Grandchildren, Lagan Liam and Asha Gangwani and Forever friend former husband Victor Gangwani: Siblings, Ed Shelton and wife, Linda, Linda Swain and husband, Jerry, John Shelton and wife Donna, Maria Kraus and husband Robert, and of course her beloved dog Zena. There are so many dear and loving friends to mention here but she was loved by so many, many people. She leaves behind 8 nieces, nephews/spouses on the Shelton side and 26 nieces and nephews/spouses on the Gangwani side as well as 6 sets of Gangwani brothers and sisters. She lived life well and gloriously and emitted this to anyone she knew - there was never a person who could not love and adore her as we have as her children and family. She was simply LOVELY. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, at 2:00 PM, November 17, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller with family and friends officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
