Peggy Jackson Martin

Kernersville – Peggy Lucille Jackson Martin, 87, passed away May 8, 2024, at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. Peggy was born November 28, 1936, in Forsyth County to the late Henry B. Jackson and Mary Sims Jackson. She was a member of the Kernersville Friends Meeting where she sang in the choir, served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the USFW Women’s Group. Peggy retired from Hanes Hosiery after 36 years of service. She loved her family dearly including her granddogs. Some of her hobbies were word search, crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, and reading. Peggy loved baking pineapple cakes and making deviled eggs for her family. Taking care of others was a passion of hers. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, two brothers and her husband of 59 years, Melvin Martin. 

Surviving are her four loving children, Connie Korner (Jay), Tanya Lewis (Danny), Lisa Holloway (Bobby) and Jeff Martin (Amy); nine grandchildren, Jeremy Russell (Chrissy), Daniel Lewis (Jenna), Jennifer Smith (Brice), Christy Rominger (Tim), Missy Witter (Eric), Mandy Holloway, David Martin (Tiffani), Michael Martin (Courtney), and Hannah Cooper (Alex); nineteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Kernersville Friends Meeting. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kernersville Friends Meeting, 320 N. Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Martin Family.
