Mrs. Peggy Whisenhunt Sparks, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019. She was born in Forsyth County on June 16, 1942, to the late Thomas Wesley Whisenhunt and Mary Keaton Whisenhunt. Mrs. Sparks retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, was chairperson for her neighborhood community watch, and loved spending time with her family. Preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters, Annie Mae Williams and Edna Gray Miller. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Larry K. Sparks; a daughter, Teresa Hackett (Eddie); four grandchildren: Grayson Hackett, Kimberly Boger (Jay), Cody Hackett (Allison), and Timothy Hackett (Deanna); seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Beck; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted in her honor 2:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Doug Klein. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.Hayworth-Miller.com.
