Peggy Jane Groce Stewart

Mrs. Peggy Jane Groce Stewart, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Peggy was born in Old Salem at The Lick-Boner House to the late Levi Frank Groce Sr. and Irene Kelly Groce on July 7, 1929. She was a lifelong member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church and was a member of Chancel Choir. Peggy was an exceptional seamstress, she loved sewing and earlier in life she made her own clothes. She loved her family and church and enjoyed singing Jesus loves me.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Lee Stewart, Sr; sisters, Joan Speas and Dorothy Whiteheart; brother, Kelly Groce. She is survived by her sons, Carlton Stewart and wife Sandy, Craig Stewart, and wife Edwina; granddaughter, Kaylyn Stewart; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 12 noon, Friday, October 20, 2023, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Summers officiating.
