Peter Sexton

Mr. Peter Charles Sexton, 72, of Winston-Salem passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Sexton was born in Caldwell, NJ on June 12, 1945 to Robert and Irene Sexton. He graduated from James Caldwell High School in Caldwell, NJ and attended Monmouth University. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University, PA program and worked for Winston-Salem Health Care; retiring in 2010 after many years of service. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Sexton was an avid angler, golfer, and runner. He enjoyed baseball and was a WFU fan. Mr. Sexton loved his family and trips to the beach. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy where he sang in the choir. He was the volunteer race director for Crisis Control Ministries for many years and was a member of N.C. Coastal Federation. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Rosemarie Sexton; two sons, Christopher Peter Sexton, Nicholas David Sexton and wife Kristi; one daughter, Maria Elena Carter and husband Jason; five grandchildren, Hayden, Jacob, Leah, Noah, and Clara; one brother, Thomas Sexton and wife Cathy; one sister, Mary Ellen Sexton; three nieces, Taylor, Holly, and Katie; a best friend of 60 years, Pete Aakjer of Pleasant, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Rev. Carl Zdancewicz officiating. Inurnment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crisis Control Ministries, 200 East Tenth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
