Sumter, SC- Phillip Maurice Lewellyn, 76, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born in Charlotte on July 31, 1938 to the late Maurice and Frances Young Lewellyn. Mr. Lewellyn retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. He was an avid outdoor sportsman. Preceding him in death was his wife, Thelma Lewellyn; brother, Barry Lewellyn and a daughter, Linda Robinson. Surviving are his brothers, Leroy Lewellyn of Winston-Salem and David Lewellyn (Camilla) of Greensboro; sisters, Carolyn Harrison (Willard) of Winston-Salem and Susan Schramm (John) of Clemmons; daughter, Sandra Lohr; also surviving are several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter, SC.
