Phillip "Phil" Edney McKenzie

Philip "Phil" Edney McKenzie, 90, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his home.

He was born in Asheville, NC, and was raised there until he went to NC State University where he became a textile engineer.

Phil worked in Pensacola, Florida & Baltimore, Maryland, until he moved to Winston-Salem to work for Duplan. He then went to work for Sara Lee Hosiery (Hanes Brands) until he retired at age 70. 

He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Fenstermaker McKenzie (Patty); two sons with Patty, Peter and Caleb; three sons from a previous marriage, John, Mark and Andrew; 14 grandchildren; and five great grand-children. 

Phil loved family and participating in sports, swimming, biking, boating, skiing, tennis and volleyball. He was a kind soul with a servants heart, and will be sorely missed. 

There will be a celebration of life for Phil at Soma Valley Church in Lewisville, NC, in 4-6 weeks.

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the McKenzie family.
