Phyllis Lorraine Adams, 95, passed peacefully to heaven on May 17, 2015 at her home in Winston-Salem. She was born May 25, 1919 in Moline, Ill. to Rudolf and Lisa (Felt) Holtz. She graduated from Moline High School and Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, attended her first game at Wrigley Field with her father at age 4 and leaves this life waiting for next year. Phyllis' full-time job was as a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Phyllis was also an active long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Moline, and was active in the Kings Daughters, PTA, and local Girl Scouts. She married Raymond Adams on March 17, 1944. They moved to Winston-Salem in 1997. She was preceded in death by Raymond (December 9, 2007), a brother, Jack Holtz, and a sister, Betty Peterson. Surviving family members include her son Michael Adams of Pfafftown, daughter-in-law Janice Adams, daughter Lisa Bennett, of Seward, Nebraska, son-in-law Steven Bennett, granddaughter Susan Barber of Lewisville, Susan's husband Drew, great-granddaughter Addison and great-grandson Noah. The family will hold a private service. The family offers its deepest thanks to friends and extended family for their thoughts, prayers and support over the past several weeks. We thank Piedmont Home Health for their dedicated professional care over the past few years and The Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their professional services and ensuring Phyllis' comfort during the last few weeks.
