Phyllis Reynolds Huffman passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, in Binghamton, NY. Phyllis was born in Montrose, PA on August 28, 1931, to the late Clifton and Cleone Lewis Reynolds.
She grew up in Montrose and moved to Greenville, SC to attend Bob Jones University where she received her BS degree. She received her nursing degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Phyllis met her husband, Johnny, while working as a nurse at the VA hospital in Asheville, NC. They were married for 27 years before his death in 1986. Phyllis was a devoted prayer warrior and delighted in studying God’s Word. She enjoyed spending time each summer at Word Of Life in Schroon Lake, NY. She also supported In Touch Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia and attended many In Touch Weekends listening to the teaching of Dr. Charles Stanley. A highlight of her life was traveling with various mission groups all over the world “praying on site with insight”. Psalm 27 was a favorite scripture with verse 4 being the desire of her life.
Phyllis was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Bush, and Elaine Wilbur and two brothers, Duane Reynolds, and Francis Reynolds. Surviving are nephews, Larry Bush (Terri), Scott Reynolds (Cheryl), Tom Wilbur (Sarah) and one niece, Denise Dutcher (Carter). Also surviving are numerous great nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 3pm at Westlawn Memorial Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. Pastor Truett Williams will officiate.
