Mrs. Polly Jane Anders Stack, 92, of East Bend, NC, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Born on May 25, 1933, in Tazewell County, VA, Polly was the daughter of the late Cleveland Osborne Anders and Florence Etter Simmons Anders.
Polly’s greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved granddaughters. She loved entertaining them with her singing, guitar playing, and dancing. In quieter moments she found comfort in reading and listening to music. Gifted with a musical talent, she taught herself to play several instruments including the banjo, guitar, and piano—much like her father and brothers. She also cherished spending time with her sister, Ruth, and a special niece, Lenda Fisher. Polly and Ruth shared a uniquely close bond as sisters.
She was known for her remarkable green thumb. She enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, where she had an uncanny ability to make anything grow. She also enjoyed taking long daily walks around her home.
Polly is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jane Stack Miller (Kevin); granddaughters, Chelsie Nicole Miller (future son‑in‑law, Parker Cecil) and Sydney Nicole Mullins (Peyton); great‑grandson, Braxton Mullins; daughter‑in‑law, Alice Ingold Stack; sister, Ruth Anders Overby; several nieces and nephews; and one special niece, Lenda Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Roy Stack; stepson, Donald Lee Stack; step‑grandson, Randall Lee Stack; granddaughter, Victoria Grace Miller; eleven brothers—Grat, Colonel, Ralph, Clarence, Terry, Kyle, James, Ellis, Elmer, Earl, and Roger Anders—and two sisters, Trula Anders and Nora Willard.
A celebration of life will be held at Hayworth‑Miller Funeral Home, Lewisville, NC, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with Rev. Francis Smith officiating.
In loving memory of Polly, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), Mountain Valley Hospice (www.mountainvalleycares.org) or Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org).
