Qurrendar Lawrence “Mike” Carmichael passed away May 25, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1932, in Forsyth County, North Carolina to E. Raymond and Miriam Tate Carmichael. Mike graduated from Old Richmond High School in 1951. He worked for Western Electric (AT&T) for 38 years. Mike married the love of his life Nancy Watkins (better known as the boss) on September 25, 2000. They were married 25 years before her passing April 25, 2024. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, T.W. Carmichael and Azariah Carmichael and three sisters-in-laws, Mary Frances Carmichael, Bettie Sue Carmichael and Juanita Carmichael. He is survived by a brother, B.J. Carmichael of Winston-Salem; his nieces, Annette (Gerald) Pardue of Tobaccoville, N.C., Faye (James) Calder of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kaye (Ron) Carter of Atlanta, GA, Beth (Michael) Connaugton of Wilmington, N.C., Vicki Carmichael (friend Ira) of Hollywood, FL; and a nephew, Azariah Jr. (Linda) of SC. Mike was a long-time member of Elm Grove Methodist Church in Pfafftown, N.C., He spent two years as a Military Policeman in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of SGT. He was a Mason for over 30 years at Lodge #685. Mike also enjoyed square dancing for 30 years with the Centennial Square Dance Club. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Elm Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Keith Nichols officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Memorials are requested to be sent to Elm Grove Methodist Church in care of Lori Goins, 5306 Dust Devil Drive, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106 or charity of the donor’s choice.
