Rachel Esther Griffin Garwood

Ms. Rachel Esther Griffin Garwood, 70, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 4, 1938 in Forsyth County to Grover H. and Evelyn Constable Griffin. She was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church. Ms. Garwood was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill Griffin. Surviving are two daughters, Michelle Lilly (James) of Winston-Salem and Sandra Montgomery (John) of Ireland, W. VA; one son, Jeffrey Griffin (Carmen) of Woodland, NC; six grandchildren, Sumer, Lynn, DeAnna, Robbie, David and John; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Fox (Robert) of Winston-Salem; one brother, Gene Griffin of Winston-Salem and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 29, 2008 at Northwoods Baptist Church with Rev. James Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care of Ms. Garwood.
