Rachel Hind

Sheffield, AL Rachel Welch Hind, 59, of Sheffield passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018.  Rachel was a native of High Point, NC.  She attended Allan Jay School, graduated in 1977, Rockingham Community College, graduated in 1995, and Kaplan University, graduated in 2005 earning her bachelor’s degree in finance.  Rachel later moved to the Shoals area in 2013 where she worked as a financial manager at the University of North Alabama.  She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, AL and longstanding member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church, Kernersville, NC.  Rachel loved to sew and has spent the last 11 years being “Nana” to her grandkids.

Rachel was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Jimmy Wayne “JW” McKinney and her father, Osroe Wade Welch.

She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Stephen Robert Hind; mother, Martha Petty Welch; daughter, Olivia Morgan McKinney Richardson (Nick); step-children, Danielle McKinney, Matthew Robert Hind (Dana Marie), and Aimee Jacqueline Hind; brothers, Roger Petty (Hilda), Bill Lambeth (Regina), and Dean Welch (Deborah); sisters, Donna Gray (Leroy) and Darlene Holley (Steve); and 9 grandchildren, Hayley and Haylen Hall, Chloe, Emma, and Gunner Richardson, Olivia Marie Hind, Amelia and Brycen Owens, and Calvin McKinney Gray.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, at Kernersville Wesleyan Church.  She will lie-in-state from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Highland Park Baptist Church, or Kernersville Wesleyan Church.
