Rachel Kathryn Powell Wright

Kernersville- Mrs. Rachel Kathryn Powell Wright, 76, passed away November 29, 2013 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 2, 1937 in Danville, Va to the late Glenn Livingston Powell, Jr. and Kathryn Reynolds Powell Arrington. Rachel was married June 28, 1954 in Chesterfield, SC, She was known to all as ""Nana"". Mrs. Wright was a member of Cherry Street United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Surviving are; her husband of 59 years, Jimmy H. Wright, Sr., Daughter Vicky Wright of Shallotte, NC, two sons, Jimmy H. Wright, Jr. of Walkertown, and Shane Wright and wife Mitzi of Kernersville, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one on the way, numerous nieces and nephews, and her Boxer; Baby. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00AM Monday, December 2, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Chad Shoaf officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103.
