Mr. Raeford Cecil McHargue, 66, passed away August 16, 2017 at his residence. He was born, June 2, 1951 in Forsyth County to his parents, Cecil Raeford McHargue, and Ida Dalton Mchargue. Raeford was a very outgoing and respectable person, and impacted many lives. In 1969, he played the trumpet as a member of the North Forsyth Marching Band. This was the year they won many awards for their competitive performances. As an honor graduate from Appalachian State, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting and a minor in business. In 1982, Raeford began serving his community with Forest Hill Volunteer Fire Department. In 1986, he joined Winston-Salem Rescue Squad serving as heavy rescue. Later he became a member of Mineral Springs Volunteer Fire Department, becoming a life time member. In the last several years Raeford completed his career from Jostens and continued serving his community. He continued to proudly serving his community with the fire department with every free minute he had. We will forever remember the impact he had on our lives and the love and dedication he had in serving his community. Raeford is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Raeford McHargue. He is survived by his mother, Ida McHargue; brother, Gary McHargue; niece, Brittany McHargue; nephew, Brandon McHargue, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall with Rev. John Holmes and Pastor Gary Styers officiating. Interment will follow at Marshall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103, Marshall Baptist Church, 5739 Old Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27105, or Mineral Springs Fire Department, 1338, Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27105.
