Ralph Edward Davis, age 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 8:28 am, at the North Carolina State Veterans’ Home in Salisbury. He was born November 27, 1943, to the late John Edward and Margaret Louise Myers Davis. He was also preceded in death by his older sister Peggy Louise Davis Williams. He is survived by his daughters; Alison Suzette Davis Fulghum (Tracy) of Durham, NC, and Gail Lynn Davis Clements (James) of Clemmons, NC: one grandson, Davis Carlton Clements; one brother, John Edward Davis, Jr. (Barbara) of Winston-Salem, NC, and one sister, Susan Lynn Davis Needham (Steve) of Kernersville, NC; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ralph worked at Advance Auto and Piedmont Airlines before serving in the U.S. Navy from February 1966 until his retirement in 1986. His service took him to many states, overseas to New Zealand and the Deep Freeze (i.e. Antarctica), and right before retirement on the USS Eisenhower. After his retirement from the Navy, he studied HVAC and worked for a longtime friend, Johnny Teague at Teague Mechanical. His last job (1998-2019) was at Timco, refitting airplanes.
Ralph was a lifelong member of Advent Moravian Church and member of the Covenant Sunday School class. He played trumpet in the Advent-Hopewell Band for decades and enjoyed carrying coffee for lovefeast services. He loved his Advent family and lifelong friends from the Advent youth group.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 5, 2024, at Advent Moravian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan Ministries, 414 E. Northwest Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27105, and Advent Moravian Church.
