Ralph Mchone

KERNERSVILLE - Ralph Julian McHone passed away peacefully at his home on February 1, 2020 at the age of 72. Ralph was a caring husband and father, to his wife Carolyn, and daughters, Sheila and Rhonda. Ralph had two son-in-laws, Tony and Scott and two grandchildren, Aaron and Amber. He also had four sisters and two brothers, all of whom were dear to him. Ralph loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He was saved on May 6, 1976. From the day he was saved, he had a burden for lost souls. He would faithfully witness and pass out tracks everywhere he went. His favorite Bible verse was Galatians 6:14. He loved his church and fellow church members, making several close friends. He was a faithful member of Kerwin Baptist Church for 32 years, serving in many aspects. A wonderful example of a servant’s heart to his children and grandchildren, all of whom are very involved in their churches. He read his Bible every day and was a prayer warrior. He kept a long prayer list with many names of family and friends that he prayed for several times a day. He was a hard-worker, always willing to help in any way he could. He was quick-witted and a bit of a jokester. He always loved playing pranks on his family, friends, and co-workers, and his dry sense of humor kept all of us laughing until the very end. There were many times, throughout his illness, his sense of humor would be the very thing that helped us get through the difficult days. He still remembered each and every one of us, and always told us that he loved us every day!  These memories, we will forever be grateful for and they will be treasured by all who knew him. Ralph is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn, two daughters, Sheila (Tony) Ball and Rhonda (Scott) Day, and two grandchildren Aaron Ball and Amber Lennon, sisters, Evelyn (Garnie) East of Max Meadows, VA, Irene Manuel of Elon College, NC, Margaret Gallimore of Madisonville, KY, Helen (Richard) Dennis of Mebane, NC, brothers, Lonnie (Libby) McHone and Jerry (Shirley) McHone, both of Wytheville, VA, and brother-in-law, James R. Rowe III, of Dublin, VA, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, L.S. and Annie McHone and three brothers-in-law. A special thank you to the Trellis Supportive Care team who assisted his family with care over the past year. A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM, Monday, February 3, 2020 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Hawtree officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at West End Cemetery in Wytheville, VA with Pastor Richard Collins officiating.
