Ralph Donald Norman

Kernersville- Mr. Ralph Donald Norman, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his son’s residence surrounded by his family. He was born on June 9, 1936, in Rutherford County, NC to James Hoke and Michel Gibson Norman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served proudly. For work, Ralph was employed with Pilot Freight Carriers for 30 years. He was able to retire at a young age and really enjoyed spending time traveling with his four brothers during that time. He also enjoyed fishing. Ralph was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda; and four brothers, Jay, Pebo, Raymond, and Clark; and an infant sister, Irene.

He leaves behind his loving family; three children, Scott Norman (Terri) of Kernersville, Jeff Norman of Denver, NC, and Sandy Whitman (Daniel Fisher) of High Point; five grandchildren, Matthew Norman (Anna), Ashley Norman (Tinisha), Hayden Cobb (Austin), Maggie Whitman, and Grant Norman; and six great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his nieces and nephews for their continued involvement in his life.

The family would also like to thank the loving staff at Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care for Ralph. They would also like to thank the VA in Kernersville for their care and compassion over the years.

A graveside service for Ralph will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Jamie Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
