Ray Michael “Mike” Hill Jr., 83, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC.
Mike was born on April 20, 1943, in Davidson County, NC, to Ray Michael Hill Sr. and Faith Elizabeth Hine Hill. He graduated from North Davidson High School in 1961 and worked at R.J.R. Tobacco Company for 35 years.
Mike loved being outside in nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, or gardening. He was a firearms enthusiast, gun smith and marksman. He also enjoyed woodworking. Eating good food was one of his favorite activities. Mike was a jokester who always made those around him smile and laugh.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandsons, Nathan Bee and Daniel Dockery; and sister, Barbara Nifong. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Glenna Dockery Hill; his children, Gina Hill Cline (Charles) of Pinnacle, Bethany Bee of Midway, Clifford Dockery III of Lexington, and John Dockery (Elisa) of Cary; grandchildren, Logan Cline, Katie Cline, Christopher Bee, Amaya Dockery, and Hana Dockery; great-grandchildren, Zolan Bee and Bastian Edwards; and sister, Nancy Gibbons of Salisbury.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC, officiated by Pastor Eddie Evans. A burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, June 10 at the funeral home.
