Lewisville Mr. Ray Hershey Smith, 90, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born March 17, 1924 in Forsyth County to the late Alex Douglas and Pattie Canter Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. Mr. Smith retired from the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 31 years of service. Preceding him in death were his parents, wives, Pauline Hass Smith and Rachel Yokely Smith; three brothers, Elmer, Cebond and Richard Smith; two sisters, Lela Williams and Louise Luper. Surviving is one son, Barry Ray Smith of Florida; three sisters, Mary Jean Rothrock and husband Joe of Tobaccoville, JoAnn McGee of Florence, AL and Margaret Todd and husband Linville of Lewisville, NC; a special niece, Trudy Jones and husband Jerry of Lewisville, NC; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM Friday, October 17, 2014 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, Lewisville, NC with Rev. Greg Freeman officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Immanuel Baptist Church, Lewisville, NC with VFW Memorial Honor Guard.
