Mr. Raymond Smith Bowman, 91, passed away October 9, 2017 at Hospice and Palliative Care Center. He was born December 10, 1925 in Surry County to the late John Bowman and Maude Kemp Bowman. Raymond served in the United States Navy during WWII. During his service, he earned three medals. They include the Victory World War II medal, Asiatic Pacific Area medal, and Philippine Liberation medal. After his time in the Navy, he worked for The Hastings Company in King, N.C. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lena Ann Clement Bowman; one son, Gary Bowman; four grandchildren, Tammy, Danny Gray, Jennifer, and Melanie. Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Mchone of Pilot Mountain, Shelby Bowman of Walkertown, Vicky (Eddie) Gunnell of King, Sandy Bowman and Dee Faircloth of Pinnacle, and Beverly Caudle of Tobaccoville; two sons, Larry Bowman of Pilot Mountain, and Billy (Karen) Bowman of Pinnacle; nine grandchildren, Sherry, Ricky, Shannon, Billy, Danielle, Bobby, Misty, Christy, Gary, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandaughter. A graveside service will be conducted 2:30 P.M. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Ralph Sproles officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M.
