Raymond Dallas McCollem

Stokesdale - Mr. Raymond Dallas McCollem, 79, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at his home. Raymond was born on September 29, 1936 in Yadkin County to John Robert and Leola Vestal McCollem.

Raymond loved his family and had a smile for everyone he met. He was always ready to share a handshake and a joke! Raymond loved yard work, gardening, fishing and music - playing bass guitar for over 50 years with ‘Dale McGee and the Ramblers' Band. Raymond retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco.


In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Myra B. McCollem; and five brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy McCollem; two daughters, Connie Hess and Sandra Broadstreet (husband, Jeff); four step children; Kay Mattocks, Ricky Grimes, Teresa Hester, Alan Grimes; two granddaughers, Jessica and Maegen Broadstreet; seven step- grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Lori, Matt, Chelsea, John, and Jimmy; seven step great-grandchildren, Robah, Justin, Devin, Charlee, Ella, Ethan, and Elliott; lifelong friends, Betty and Dale McGee; brother, Ralph McCollem (Carolyn); and three sisters, Jane Holt, Hazel Hendrix, Ann Reavis.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Lori Broadstreet for her loving and tender care of Raymond during his illness.
