Raymond Turner

A good man, Raymond Lewis Turner, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. He fought a long, hard battle, but he won because he is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is free from all pain and illnesses he suffered while here on this earth. Raymond was born on January 27, 1934 in Forsyth County to John and Nora Evans Turner. He graduated from Hanes High School where he was a star athlete and was a well-known antique and junk dealer. He retired as a manager in the flavoring department at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports on television. Raymond had been in declining health for several months and never complained. Preceding him in death are his parents, an infant daughter, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Billings Turner; daughter, Robin Starr and husband Michael Charles; Special granddaughter, Peyton Turner; grandson, Jonathan Starr and his wife Sarah; great granddaughter, Elisabeth Raye Starr; one sister, Carolyn Lowry and husband Will; one brother, Glenn Turner and wife Brenda; many faithful friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bill Chatman officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Forsyth Medical Center and also at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
