Raymond Edward White

Mr. Raymond Edward White, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born March 26, 1930 in Forsyth County to Gaither W. and Edna Flynn White. Mr. White was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Fellowship. He had 50 years of service with the Boy Scouts. He was a lifetime member of the Jonestown Civic Club. He was retired from AT&T with over 40 years of service, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. White was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Arnold Gray White. Surviving are his wife, Jane Pinnix White; four children, Lynn Crumley and husband Lance, Tim White, Cindy Ellis and husband Mark and Eric White and wife Angel; five grandchildren, Abigail, Gabriel, Kaylan, Ashley and Eli; one great grandson, Skyler; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robin Fitzgerald officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1130 Jonestown Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
