Kernersville - Rebecca ""Becky"" Weavil Jones, 76, wife of the late John W. Jones, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. She was born April 1, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Raymond C. Weavil and Helen Smith Weavil. She was raised by her grandmother and grandfather, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie M. and Myrtle Smith Weavil, whom she called ""Pop"" and ""Mama."" They were the only parents she knew and they were loved with all her heart. Becky attended Sedge Garden Elementary School and graduated from Robert B. Glenn High School in 1958. She married John W. Jones, February 7, 1959. They were married for 41-1/2 years until his death on August 15, 2000. Mrs. Jones retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco in 1992. She was employed at Whitaker Park. She was employed with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System from 1996 to 2013 as a substitute teacher and was also on the staff of the After School Program at Petree Elementary School.
John and Becky had two daughters, Mrs. Valerie Denise Jones Howerton (Steve Howerton) of Kernersville, and Mrs. Tammy Rena Jones Garner (Joe Dean Garner) of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Michael Dean Garner (Rhina Cabatingan Garner), Christopher Steven Howerton, and Tyler Lee Howerton; and one great grandchild, Summer Rain Jewel Garner, whom she loved and treasured.
""To my daughters, Valerie and Tammy, you were and are, the most important and precious daughters anyone could have. I loved you more than life itself. You both grew up to be fine and beautiful young ladies. If I could have chosen your husbands for you, I would have chosen the ones of your choice. I couldn't have chosen anyone that would have been better son's in law. Thank you for being the husbands you are to my daughters and the father you are to my precious grandsons.""
""To my grandsons, Michael Dean Garner, Christopher Steven Howerton, and Tyler Lee Howerton, All My Love, you were my reason to live. I wanted to live long enough to see you grown and to see the fine men you would become. Always make the right choices and you will do fine in life.""
""To all my friends who were there for me when I needed you. All my love and God bless you.""
